There is a preferred week for AWAKE (July 12-17).

WAKE is a Utah National Parks Council Venturing Officers Association (CVOA) sponsored consulting service. The CVOA is a youth-led organization who's vision is to strengthen Venturing crews through an initiative called "Bringing Venturing to You 10-4" by promoting: youth leadership, fun adventures, recognition and communication.
WAKE is a method to help crews plan a "budget and environment conscious super-activities after proper training for the ultimate outdoor experience and fun" (see BVY mision statement) while incorporating youth leadership
opportunities and training in the process. It promotes the planning of an adventure that will challenge Venturers to "Do Hard Things" and to "Finish the Job."
Requirements for a crews to participant in WAKE are the following:

1) The super-activity is to be planned by youth leaders with advice from adult mentors and consultants.
2) A portion of it is to include a challenging outdoor experience or trek adventure
3) Crew are to conduct a Kodiak Leadership Course during the adventure.
4) We encourage your WAKE to incorporate a 50-miler trek (Optional*)

*While the "WAKE 50-miler" designation requires only that you trek 50 continuous miles by bike, foot, horse or paddling unaided by motorized vehicles in an unspecified period of time, we encourage you to learn about and consider BSA's sanctioned 50-miler Award which includes additional requirements of a minimum 5-day trek that includes a 10 hour conservation project.
We have divided our council's 11 sectors (which consist of 39 districts) into five sister sector groups. Each group is named after a prominent National Park or Monument in its geographical area. The magnificent parks are a representative sample of all the parks in our council from which it derives its name and are as follows: Zion's, Bryce, Arches, Cedar Breaks, Dinosaur and Great Basin. These geographical boundaries of these 5 designated groupings, with the addition of the Wasatch group (comprising the area surrounding Utah & Wasatch Counties), are defined by the boundaries of the Scouting districts assigned to each.
As each district creates a WAKE resource for their local area to enable crews to experience awesome high adventures experiences,  we will share them with you on this site at WAKE Area Websites.

We hope you will participate in WAKE. Go to
Plan Your Adventure to get started now.
